Retirement income tools

Free tools for turning your savings into retirement income

Most calculators tell you how much to save. These help with the harder part. When should you start CPP and OAS? Which account do you spend first? Start with your number below. No online tool replaces a plan built with a retirement planner in London, Ontario, but this is where it starts.

The rest of the toolkit

CPP Calculator

See what your CPP cheque is really worth at 60, 65 or 70 — using the age you actually stop working, not the age Service Canada assumes.

RRIF Withdrawal Calculator

See the withdrawals the CRA forces out of your RRIF from the year you turn 72 — the tax on every one, the year they push you over the OAS clawback line, and what the spouse-age election saves.

CPP & OAS Timing Optimizer

Model when to start CPP and OAS based on your savings, spending, risk profile, and life expectancy — including breakeven analysis, the "invest it early" argument, and RRSP drawdown tax strategy.

Retirement Paycheque Planner

Find out which account to draw from first — and what the wrong order costs. RRSP, TFSA or non-registered, matched to your pension, your CPP timing, and the OAS clawback line.

Financial Tools FAQ

Are these financial planning tools really free?
Yes — all tools on this page are completely free to use. They are designed to give you a starting point for understanding your retirement readiness, RRSP vs TFSA decision, and overall financial health. For a personalized analysis, you can book a fit call.
How accurate are online retirement calculators?
Online calculators provide useful estimates, but they cannot account for every variable in your situation — such as future tax law changes, health costs, or market fluctuations. They are a good starting point for understanding roughly where you stand. A comprehensive financial plan from a qualified financial advisor will give you a much more accurate year-by-year projection.
Should I use an RRSP or TFSA for retirement savings in Ontario?
It depends on your income and expected retirement tax bracket. Generally, if you earn over $55,000, the RRSP tax deduction is more valuable. If you are in a lower bracket or need flexible access to your money, the TFSA is often better. Use our free RRSP vs TFSA Decision Tool for a personalized recommendation, or read our detailed RRSP vs TFSA guide.
What is a retirement readiness score?
A retirement readiness score measures how well-prepared you are for retirement across key dimensions: savings rate, investment strategy, tax efficiency, insurance coverage, estate planning, CPP/OAS timing, and more. Our free scorecard evaluates all 10 areas and gives you actionable steps to improve your score.
Why does the mix of RRSP, TFSA, and non-registered money matter, not just my total net worth?
Because not every dollar of net worth is worth the same in retirement. A dollar in your RRSP or RRIF is pre-tax — CRA takes a share when you withdraw it. A dollar in your TFSA is entirely yours. A dollar in a non-registered account sits in between, taxed only on its gains. Two people with an identical net worth can have very different spendable retirement incomes depending on how their money is split. The free Net Worth Tracker shows you that mix, not just the total.
